    Spelling mistake (2003)

A colleague was just going through a presentation with me and I noted that he had made a spelling mistake. On pointing it out he stated that he had made the correction in design view and saved the show. On showing the presentation it was still there...any ideas why?

I fear your colleague either corrected the spelling error after saving the presentation or accidentally showed you an older version of the presentation.

OK confused now..It is on his PC, I was standing over his shoulder....he showed me the design view...spelling error not on it, pressed F5 to show the show and it is there <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20>.

Does Powerpoint cache in any way?

I don't know whether PowerPoint caches a presentation. I have never experienced the text in a slide show being different from design view, but who knows...
Does this still occur after quitting and restarting PowerPoint (or even the PC)?

Gosh...you have made me just run down to the other end of the office to ask.

It appears in the interim period he did the following:

    1) Saved the file
    2) Closed it down
    3) Opened it up and found spelling mistake had appeared again in design view
    4) Changed it again
    5) Saved it
    6) Error gone

Thanks for helping out but it appears to have solved itself

We'll write it down as one of Microsoft's Manifold Mysteries...
