WMP cannot rip to mp3 (Windows XP)

I am a high school teacher. I am giving a demonstration next week that will use Windows Media Player. I noticed that WMP in the school's computers does not have the option to rip to mp3, only wma. Why would this be and is there anything I can do about it? Thank you very much.

Re: WMP cannot rip to mp3 (Windows XP)

I did a Google Search and came up with this information about plug-ins to add this function. Scroll about half-way down the page to the MP3 Plug-ins. These aren <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> but for $10 they are Microsoft endorsed (something the school district should approve of). HTH

Thank you for responding. I found out that the reason for which I could not rip to mp3 was that the WMP version was 9. Once I upgraded to 10, the problem was solved. Thank you again.
