pst file becomes corrupt in Outlook XP (Office XP on WIn 2000 (Exchange))

I have a huge (1.1 GB) pst file, which is stored on the network drive at work. When I installed Office XP , (including Outlook) this Archive file became inaccessible, causing Outlook to hang. Our system admin. restored the file from backup and the same thing happened again. The second time the file got restored I opened it from another computer with Office 2000 and had no trouble whatsoever.

Any ideas why Office XP would corrupt my pst file? Might it have anything to do with its size? Or is it just an incompatibilty thing?

    Thanks,
    Tali

max file size is 2 gig - you'll soon need to create a new one.

All versions use the same file - so it's not an compatability issue.

Test it using a local copy - it may appear to be hanging due to file size and network access.

Have you tried breaking it up into smaller bits - maybe 500MBs - and see if it has the same problem
