    Graphing positive & negative (2K2)

    I have just been plotting a series of x and y values in an XY Scatter graph.

    The lines plotted are y=1/x and y=-1/x. The two series were placed on the same graph.

    I note that on close up view the Y values projected on the graph are asymetric although the X value is the same. If you look at the image below you may be able to see the variance. Just a mild irritation but is this because Excel charts treat negatives differeny to positives even though the values are the same in the calculations (except one is +ve and the other -ve)

    The problem is caused by the thickness of the lines. The "real" graph is the bottom of the lines, the thickness is added on top of it, not centered around it.
