Delete pesky folder

Skitterbug recently posted <!post=Unlocker Application,577692>Unlocker Application<!/post> in Software Finds and Wants. This seemed to be th answer to my prayers and went off to try it tonight. I have a 40Gb Iomega exernal HD with a folder called BBK...this will not delete even with the suggested software.

Some Loungers have mentioned DOS to do it but was wondering if this was possible via a USB drive. I have attached the image of Unlocker Error message FYI

Re: Delete pesky folder

So did you try to delete in on next boot?
------------------------------
Beyond that screen there is also a drop down with the options for:
No Action
Delete
Rename
Move
----------------------------
Either while windows is running or at next boot.

Tossing in more here. Since it is on the external hard drive, do you have ownership of the folder? Or did something wonky happen to change the ownership?

Even though it is not a reserved name have you tried the steps mentioned in How to Remove Files with Reserved Names in Windows XP and How to Remove Files with Reserved Names in Windows? Have you tried running chkdsk?

Hi Joe

Can't scan disk-it just says can'td it, the software won't work on it. I think that I will just live with it, it isn't taking up disk space and the whole disk holds quite a lot of my back ups and I am scared I will delete some of my stuff

It's OK now....

Used Unlocker, two reboots and a full scandisk and next thing I know, it had gone.....
