    Firefox 1.5.0.4 flaky? (1.5.0.4)

This update appears to be somewhat unstable, whereas I've had no problem with the last three or four updates. When listening to Radio 3's The Early Music Show via Real Alternative / Media Player Classic, after about ten minutes or so it says that "Firefox has encountered a problem and has to close". I've updated Real Alternative from 1.47 to 1.48, but that hasn't improved matters.

Has anyone who follows the Firefox newsgroups come across problems like this?

    Thanks

    John

    Hi John,

I updated FF a few days ago but haven't had any problems about it wanting to quit and close on me - yet. That problem sometimes happens to me when I have an extension that is misbehaving. I haven't listened to the EMS yet. When I do, it will be a good test since that is when you have problems with FF. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

    Hi again John,

Just to report back - I've listened to both Saturday and Sunday's EMS Listen Again shows and I didn't have any problems with FireFox closing down for me. I am using their website's link to RealPlayer and it played without any trouble. Maybe you need to create a new profile and see if that helps?

It's not just Real Alternative which has caused Firefox to fall over; it also happened yesterday with my online banking software, which previously has been ~100% reliable. And it happens only after an extended period of use.

I will follow your link to create a new profile (and have to change my BATch backup routines to match the new random folder name!).

I haven't seen anything posted about it being unreliable, but I think it's still too early in the release cycle for it to have really hit the newsgroups. Myself, I've had no problems with the update thus far...

No problems - which is more than I can say for last 2 or 3

I'm waiting to see what happens now that I have recreated my Firefox profile...

But it still takes several seconds to perform the initial load, which is mildly frustrating!
