    Outlook Special Icon (2000 sp3)

When Outlook is installed, it places a special icon on the desktop which is not actually a shortcut, but a link to the mail applet. This recently vanished, and I got it back by using 'Detect and Repair' On the next boot, it vanished again. Not really a problem, but it is handy to be able to right click and access outlook profiles without needing to go to the Mail applet. Is there a quick fix to get it back again (or to stop it vanishing)?

If you're using Windows XP, you can use the free TweakUI XP applet to place the icon on your desktop (in the Desktop section). You can download TweakUI XP from Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP.

MSKB article How to restore the Outlook icon to the desktop describes how you can use RegEdit to restore the icon.

You are a star. Strangely, Tweakui (XP Powertoys 2.10.0.0 was the first place I looked, but there was no entry for Outlook. After the registry trick you gave, all appears ok for now, AND, Tweakui can see the outlook icon again. Thanks
