search details winxp (Win XP SP2)

I'm getting tired of choosing "Details" every time I do a search for files in WinXP. The Icons setting seems particularly useless in a search panel.
Is anyone out there using Explorer to Search and getting "Details" First Time Every Time?
Google Groups throws up several posters wringing their hands in despair .....

Yes, I do get Details view by default, both in Windows 2000 and in Windows XP. I always assumed this was because I set the default view in Windows Explorer to Details on all PCs I work on.

    If you have tried:

1] Set a view to Details
    2] Tools > Folder Options...
3] Click on Reset All Folders
4] Click on Apply to All Folders

and it is still happening, you could always check out WillyWilly's Starpost - <post:=252,256>post 252,256</post:>

"A note: Folders will only inherit a particular view type if you do not re-enable "Remember each folder's view settings" before actually viewing the folders. This parameter/checkbox must remain cleared, and you must view the subfolders in order for them to inherit the proper setting - before re-enabling the tick in the checkbox next to that option. Once you have viewed the folders, you can then re-enable the "Remember" setting to ensure that they remain unchanged."

Thanks, Leif. I experimented a bit and it seems to be sticking.
The phrase "<font color=red>Remember each folder's view settings</font color=red>" appears to be poorly worded. It ought to read "<font color=448800>Remember this folder's view settings now</font color=448800>"

<sad>No, Hans. I suspect that there's more to it than that. One's First name seems to have a bearing on it</sad>
    (grin)
But please see my response to Leif.
