    Unable to Print (2000)

We have an Excel workbook that won't print from a particular PC. We can print the file from other PC's to the same printer and other printers. All other worksheets appear to print fine. The printer is an HP 8550.

    Re: Unable to Print (2000)

When you say 'won't print', do you mean:
Excel goes through the motions but nothing is printed?
The printer goes through the motions but spits out a bad or blank page?
Can it be printed from the 'offending' pc to other printers?

Is the printer local or networked?

Does the printer perform by printing out from other applications?

    Re: Unable to Print (2000)

Sorry, thought I had enough info on this one, but obviously didn't. When we send the offending file to offending printer an error code is generated and we need to close Excel, so it appears that the file never reach the printer. The file does print fine to another printer that is local to the offending PC. The printer that is causing the problem is a network printer. We can print other workbooks as well as files from other applications just fine to the offending printer from the offending PC. Hope that helps. Judy

    Re: Unable to Print (2000)

Assuming that the error code that is generated is a fault condition, like "Invalid page fault" or something similar, then I would guess that either Excel or the printer driver on the offending machine is corrupted. Something in the formatting in the spreadsheet is causing the corruption to cause the problem. The first thing I would try is to uninstall and reinstall the printer. If that did not work, then I would try uninstalling and reinstalling Excel/Office. If that did not help, then I would get the program from the Microsoft support site that "completely uninstalls" your version of Office and use it to completely uninstall and then reinstall.

If the error you are getting is something different, could you be a little more specific about what it is?

Just to add a little to Legare's suggestion, if re-installing the printer does not help, see if you can get an updated driver from the printer manufacturer's website. It may save you the trouble of re-installing Excel and/or Office
