anyone had experience with this virus? My Avast! detected it but I suffered reformatting of some Word.PDF/Excel files.

    Re: Exploit virus

There seem to be MANY variations of the Exploit virus, like exploit.bloodhound, etc, etc.
Check the Symantec for the particular variation and hopefully the fix for same.

Long ago, there was a time when men cursed and beat on the ground with sticks. It was called witchcraft.
    Today it is called golf!

    Re: Exploit virus

For others reading this: Chris is talking about the WMF Exploit he mentioned in <post:=578,691>post 578,691</post:>.
Technically speaking, it is not a single virus, but a vulnerability that could be used by all kinds of viruses and trojans.
See Microsoft Security Bulletin MS06-001: Vulnerability in Graphics Rendering Engine Could Allow Remote Code Execution (912919) for some info about the exploit.
