    Dealing with an infected PC

For informational purposes, I ran across this page by Charlie Russel, A Microsoft MVP, giving good tips on dealing with an infected PC.

It's rather basic for some but would be a good start for someone that needs a little help on where to start.

Long ago, there was a time when men cursed and beat on the ground with sticks. It was called witchcraft.
    Today it is called golf!

    That's a good article!

An alternative strategy was put forward by a Microsofty a couple of months ago.

And there's an amusing story about Steve Ballmer and a virus-infected PC.

    Hi John,
Yes, I remember reading about that "strategy" and it is many times true that it is better to start over. However, it all depends how severe it is.

My main comment is about the other article: "If the man at the top and a team of Microsoft's best engineers faced defeat, what chance do ordinary punters have of keeping their Windows PCs virus-free?"

Maybe it is my lack of knowledge in the English language, but is it not a big difference in "keeping it virus-free" and successfully remove everything once hit by many major viruses?

I think they were talking about the last one, but said keeping virus-free. Every PC user should now a little about how they can be hit, where etc.
