    Hello,

    If I have a file called

    Open Windows Explorer.
    Select Tools | Folder Options...
    Activate the File Types tab.
    Select XLS (Microsoft Excel Worksheet)
    Click Advanced (in Windows XP) or Edit.
    Select the Open action (it should be bold)
    Click Edit...
    Use DDE should be ticked, and DDE Message should contain

    [open("%1")]

    including the quotes.

    If this doesn't help, make sure that all instances of Excel are closed.
    Select Start | Run...
    Type "C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice11Excel.exe" /regserver
    Click OK or press Enter.
