    Name your file as soon as you open it (Word 2000)

    Hi, is there some way to get Word to help me stick to the good habit of naming a file as soon as I start working on it?

    Regards

    For new documents:

    You can create a Document_New event procedure in the ThisDocument module of all templates you want to do this for, including Normal.dot:

    Private Sub Document_New()
    Application.Dialogs(wdDialogFileSaveAs).Show
    End Sub

    Alternatively, you could put an AutoNew macro in a standard module in your Normal.dot:

    Sub AutoNew()
    Application.Dialogs(wdDialogFileSaveAs).Show
    End Sub

    This will be executed whenever you create a new document, regardless of the template, but this may be undesirable if you have templates that contain a Document_New event procedure.

    For existing documents: similar, but use Document_Open or AutoOpen.
