Hyperlinks don't (2000 SR-1)

I've just realized that some hyperlinks in received emails don't work no more <img src=/S/sad.gif border=0 alt=sad width=15 height=15>
They work if the email is HTML, but if RTF or plain text - no go.
If I have no browser window open, a totally blank IE window opens and with a blank address line.
If I have a browser window open, nothing appears to happen (no focus change to IE)

This may have started happening after installing NS6 a few weeks ago but I would not want to swear to it.

Any suggestions as to where to start looking?

I'm having this problem as well with my installation of Outlook 2002 on Windows NT 4 SP 6. I first noticed the problem after I upgraded from Office 2000 SR-1 to Office 2002. However, I also have a version of Netscape 6 installed.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

Well I have, but I'm darned if I can remember what it was!
I'm sure the solution has been posted here somewhere - as soon as I get a moment I'll do a search if you haven't found it. (May be worth checking the IE forum.....)

Yes! I found the answer in the <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=ie&Number=54652&page=0&view =collapsed&sb=5&o=0>E-mail weblinks don't work</A> thread in the IE forum. The problem is that the various URL file associations used by Internet Explorer get changed somehow.

I've got the same problem with OL98. MSoft has a resolution similar to OL2000 in it's KB <A target="_blank" HREF=http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q263654>Q263654</A>.

I'm having a problem associating it with IE. Any advice?
