    Selective 'Restore'? (MSO 2003)

    O-o-o-K-a-a-a-y:

Here's a little bit different question (at least for me):

I had some type of *issue* between my iHateSpam, Nelson E-mail Organizer, Newsgator, and Outlook. Ultimately nothing would load "right", and "Detect and Repair" didn't help. So

I've restored from an image made earlier yesterday. All work fine now, but

How can I restore the mail I processed yesterday into the PST from yesterday morning? (Before I restored from the image of yesterday AM, I copied all the Outlook files (Cocuments and SettingsCWBillowApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook*.* and Cocuments and SettingsCWBillowLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook*.* ) off to another drive, so I DO have all the mail.).

I don't want to just copy the files over, 'cause that would bring all the add-in dependencies etc. with the emails.

If I import ALL the mail from the old PST to the restored one, selecting "Replace Duplicates with Items Imported", with that (pretty much) avoid a ton of duplicates.in the final PST?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

How about moving all the mail in question into a separate (series of) folder(s) in the source PST & then importing from there? HTH

But if I do that, won't I still have the issue of duplicates when I import?

I mean, if I move all the mail in PST_Old/Folder_1 into PST_Old/Transfers/Folder_1, then when I import them, I'll have PST_New/Transfers/Folder_1, or, if I import from the Transfers folder9s) into the (final hoped for) destination folders, I'll still have the question of duplicates, yes/no?

Alternative number 2 is to load the entire updated PST ("Source") into Outlook. Then, sort the folders in Source by date. Then, drag & drop the mail items (over the necessary time span) in the Source folders into their counterparts in the target PST.

The original suggestion was simply to import 1 folder (of all the "unmatched" items) into Target.

You may find alternative #2 quicker.

Could I search for all in a date range (in this case, the 2-3 days since the image), export them to a PST, and then pull THAT PST into the current PST?

Yes. You could also drag & drop the relevant messages out of the results pane in Advanced Find straight into your Target PST. That might be a bit simpler.....? HTH

Got it with a bit of a combination of the alternatives:

Exported from the one (old) based on dates, then imported into the new PST, then ran SperrySoftware's E-mail Duplicate Eliminator...

    All's well now...

    Thanks,
    Chuck
