Long delay when "Applying Security Policy"

I have a Thinkpad 570 that I upgraded to W2K a while back. Although it only has 64MB of RAM, it's perfectly useable apart from one annoyance -- it takes AGES to boot. In particular, once the GUI has started to load and before the log-in dialog appears, it sits for a couple of minutes displaying the message "Applying security policy".

I don't know enough about the W2K security architecture to know if there's anything I could tweak to make this process faster -- or maybe I simply need to upgrade the hardware?!

Can you check your event log - are there any errors being reported at start-up?

    Meanwhile, check <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.jsiinc.com/subh/tip3500/rh3594.htm>Tip 3594

Thanks very much! There were no errors in the event log, but that registry tweak has solved the problem completely.

    Thanks again
