New SQL Server Migration Assistant (97 and up)

Microsoft has released a new SQL Server Migration Assistant for Access (SSMA). It works with Access databases created in Access 97 and later, and migrates to SQL Server 2005. It has more features than the Upsizing Wizard built into Access.

Warning: SSMA requires that you have the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 and the J# 2.0 redistributable package. The download page has links for both if you need them. They add some 28 MB to the 5 MB download for SSMA.

Info and download link are available from Migrate to SQL Server.

    Hans,

Looks like a good tool. I have over 30 Access databases to migrate so I think I will give this a try. The upsize wizard leaves a lot of cleanup after the fact. Did you note the RAM requirement?

1 GB - yes, as Vista nears, RAM requirements are going up...
