Any shortcut to update linked formulas? (Excel 2003)

    Hi,
I have a query from a client who asks this:

They have a large budget file holding the companies financial detail. They also have a summary workbook that calculates the source files that hold the annual data. Close to the end of the year, they save the 2006 source w/b as 2007, and wipe clean the constants, leaving only formulas...(like a template!). Then they spend a couple of hours having to insert the references to refer to the new 2007 w/b, so that the summary includes the new 2007 entries into its summary calculations.

My question is: Is there any quicker method to include the references to the newly saved w/b into the summary file calculations. Any function or macro or consolidation routine that can simplify and speed up this task...?

    Please enlighten me. Tx
    Regards,
    Rudi

It depends on the formulas they use, so please provide some details.

As an approach to the problem, instead of working some code to "reset" formulas. in my opinion. it would make sense to redesign the workbook so the formulas do what you want them to directly without having to change them all.

i understand there may be some conditions that preclude this, but it should be the goal.

Tx for the input Steve. I personally have not seen the W/B either, but and still waiting on some feedback from the client since Hans's post requesting more detail.
    Cheers

    Rudi
