Re: Send Word doc as group email (2003 SP3)

You could attach the Word document (it should be saved to disk).

Re: Send Word doc as group email (2003 SP3)

This is only a test doc that I use. It's pretty simple. Some of the docs that will eventually be sent will be quite complicated.

Whoops, I missunderstood you when I inclided this attachment.
The reason for this code is that attachmetments are not desirable, we want the doc in the body of the email.
    Regards,
    Peter

I'll come back to you later, the machine I'm on at the moment has a problem with automating Outlook, so I cannot test anything.

Send Word doc as group email (2003 SP3)

Image reduced in size by HansV

I use the code below to send email items in groups of 50. They can be sent either as a pre-written Word doc (blnWordDocEmails = True ) or as a plain email (blnWordDocEmails = False)

If plain emails are used they are sent OK but if Word doc emails are used, nothing gets sent. I get the following error at the line .Send.
    Regards,
    Peter

As far as I can tell, you must specify a To address - you get the error message you mentioned if you only specify BCC addresses. As discussed in the thread starting at <post:=579,607>post 579,607</post:>, add the BCC addresses first, then the To address - your own e-mail address, for example.

Re: Send Word doc as group email (2003 SP3)

Thanks Hans. (I would like a $ for every time someone has typed those words <g>)
I was going by your reply to that post. In reply to my question along the lines of 'is it possible to send emails with just BCC addressees?'. You said that you managed to do just that.
The code for sending plain message emails in the attachment above doesn't use a To addressee and they go just fine.
So I guess I'll have to put the first BCC addressee as the To addressee in each batch of 50. Unless anyone has a suggestion to the para below.

Any ideas re question #2 at the start of this post? Is it possible to send a Word doc, or a reference to a Word doc as olMsg.Body? Or is there any other way except as an attachment?
    Regards,
    Peter

Re: Send Word doc as group email (2003 SP3)

The Body property of an e-mail Item is a plain text string, so you cannot put a Word document in it. If you send in HTML format, you can specify the HTMLBody property - not very attractive for a complex document.
