Simplest advice is to stick with what you know... I have a colleague who wants to have everything and anything that sounds fantastic and cutting edge....He is always grumbling and shouting at his PC 'cos it isn't doing what it is suposed to do!! My attitude these days is get it if you really need it.
Back to your question. How old is your PC? If it is really, really new then the chances are that it may have Blue tooth capability. You can buy Bluetooth devices which look very much like a USB memory stick that you can use and are very cheap, I have one but only because Jezzarette 1 and 2 like to download their images from the phones.

The obvious answer is "No".
I was just looking for a new mouse, and the idea of a wireless mouse came along, and so... and they're not that expensive...
But at the same time I've also seen kvetching that the batteries die etc., and since I use my PC *hours* a day, that's certainly a consideration...

Long ago, there was a time when men cursed and beat on the ground with sticks. It was called witchcraft.
Today it is called golf!

No problem Chuck
I think you have ( in my opinion) hit the nail directly on the head....batteries. The number of threads in the Lounge that state their wireless keyboard and mouse don't work because of A or B... good old fashioned [tongue in cheek smilie] works great. Bluetooth has its place for telephony and PDA type work but for simple I/O tecnology forget it...( IMHO)

From another guy's perspective, I'm on my second cordless keyboard and mouse (Logitech, USB) and only because my previous one just gave up the ghost after a few years of use. I won't go back to wired unless I absolutely have to. The cost of a couple of AAA batteries for the mouse every few months doesn't bother me in the least. This one's at about three months now. I've only had to change the batteries in the keyboard about once or twice a year - so seldom that I don't mark it on the calendar. My computer runs 24/7. Yes, I have seen others who say they've had deplorable luck with mouse batteries, that's why I stuck with Logitech for my replacement.
PS I wish I could say my luck was as good with mobile phone batteries - aaarrrggghhh!
And ya see Doc, my mobile batteries have never given me trouble... so I count those blessings...

I bought a brand new Logitech cordless keyboard and mouse a few weeks ago. The keyboard managed to completely consume a set of batteries in 2 days. I naively fed it some new batteries and those only lasted 2 days as well. I sent it back for an exchange and the replacement seems fine.
