Word crashes and Global templates are recovered (Word 2002 /XP SP3)

On some pcs when Word crashes and opnes up again, the Global Word templates are recovered. I just want to recover the Word documents that were open and being worked on at the time of the Word crash. I dont want Word to recover the Global templates.

    Is this a Word setting?

    many thanks

Re: Word crashes and Global templates are recovere

Do those global templates change themselves, for example, do they add new AutoText entries or styles, or make CommandBar changes? If they are changed, I'm not sure whether you can suppress Word recovering them. Actually, I'm not sure what is "most logical" for Word to do in these cases.

Re: Word crashes and Global templates are recovere

The Global templates arenot changed. They are just being used at the time ie the code in these templates is probaly being used at the time of the crash. When we first upgraded from Office97 to Office XP the recovering of Global templates use to occur. Then we changed a setting or perhaps registry and the result was Global templates were no longer recovered, only the current Word documents being worked on.

    I'll check the Microsoft KB.
