    Missing categories (Office 2003)

I have installed a new HD on my wife's computer and copied her PST file to the new HD. All the data is there but the custom categories she had before are missing.

Custom categories are not stored in the .pst file, but in the Windows Registry. see How to migrate custom categories to other users in Outlook 2002 and in Outlook 2003.

    Re: Missing categories (Office 2003)

I was referring categories in Contacts. I think they must be in the PST file as I routinely copy my PST from my desktop to my laptop and the Categories survive. I have removed many of the categories that came with Outlook and have added others. They all transfer to my laptop when I copy my PST file. (This is the best way I have found to sync Outlook on both computers.) So why did this not work when I reinstalled Outlook on my wife's new computer?
