Entering Merge fields in Word 2002 (2002 10.2627.2625)

Hi. My employer has just upgraded from Office 2000 to XP (2002). I often merge Excel data to Word letters and forms. In previous versions of Word, I could choose a Merge Field, click Insert, click on my Main Document and move my cursor, click again on the list of Merge Fields, and so on. In Word 2002, I can find no way to avoid opening the Insert Merge Field box, choosing one and clicking Insert, then closing the Merge Field box so as to move to another spot (usually an adjoining table cell) in my Main Document, again opening the Merge Field box, etc. Is there any way to change this "inefficient feature"?
    Many thanks.

You can place the old Insert Merge Field dropdown list on the mail merge toolbar - see <post:=431,768>post 431,768</post:>. Using it is much more convenient than using the new Merge Field box.
