Track changes - can I manually add double underlin (Word 2002 /XP SP3)

    Hello

I have a document that has track changes. The insertions are underlined, the deletions are strikethrough.

For some insertions I have applied manually formatting that is Word menu Format Font, Underline style = double underline. In the Font Preview screen it displays how I want it. However when I go back into the Word document, there appears to be no change and it still displays as underlined.

Is there a way I can do this?

    many thanks

Not while tracked changes are displayed. To see the double underlining, either accept all changes, or choose Final from the Reviewing toolbar to hide the tracked changes.

Word cannot display two types of underlining at once, so I think the only way to see the double underlining would be to select Tools | Options..., activate the Track Changes tab and to select a style for insertions that doesn't involve underline or double underline.

    Hi Hans

its sorted. This is how I resolved it.

In WordXP on the most recent track changes, the user had manually applied double underline. This could not be displayed in WordXP.

The goal was to highlight and make visible the most recent track changes. I recommended Highlight, but they weren't keen on this suggestion.

I have a beta version of Word2007. In Word2007 it displays the document with the formatting applied. Ive then PDF'ed the file so the users can access and view the file.

fudged it but hey it worked...yay!!!

I'll remember what you recommended the next time the user requests this given they give me more time )

    thank you again Hans :-)
