Spybot Message

Hi Everybody,

I've been getting the attached warning message from Spybot since upgrading it a few months ago and starting the resident teatimer. I think this is a teatimer message. According to the log, I've been forced to deny every attempt since January because the reply blocks are garbled and there are no "deny" or "allow" blocks visible. Most of the "denys" that occur when I have to X the box closed are ctfmon.exe, but a few (like this Zone Alarm setting) are more worrisome. StartUpMonitor comes up at the same time, and even though I tell it to "allow", when I close the Spybot box a window appears at the lower right saying that such-and-such registry change was denied. Spybot's log records "changed (or added) in system startup global entry!"

Has anyone seen this message and solved the issue? A couple of them were recorded last week when I ran the fixes for the Word and Excel security problems, and this one for the Zone Alarm upgrade.

Thanks for all your help,
Kris

This is a known Spybot problem, it has to do with the Delphi compiler used by its developer.
If you look closely at the dialog, you'll see that the tops of the buttons are just visible. The one on the left is Allow and the one on the right is Deny. You will probably just be able to click them. Alternatively, you can press A for Allow or D for Deny.

Re: Spybot Message

It is quite shameful that we have just passed the anniversary (yes, 365 days) of when the TeaTimer bug was introduced, and inconceivably there has been no official fix yet by the authors! All the workrounds developed by others have been quite trivial in scope, so the reason for inaction is unclear.

Hi Ken

This "problem" has been most annoying to deal with and thanks to your link pointing to a fix for it, I am looking forward to a dialog box that is really usable now!

Re: Spybot Message

I've been waiting for the teatimer message to appear again, but it hasn't so I need to reply. Whew! I see what you mean by being "up to" the fix. I will tackle it soon, but meanwhile I appreciate Hans' A for allow and D for deny hint. I'm new to the teatimer feature and surely wasn't aware that this issue has been going on for a year.

Thanks again,
Kris
