document snapshot (Windows XP Home, SP2)

Looking at a group of files in a folder, I right-clicked on one Word file and selected Properties. I noticed a box that, when clicked, gave me a snapshot of the document in the left column "Details". I wanted to display the other documents in snapshot view, but could not locate that selection check-box again in the properties of any of the other files (Word and Excel). These files are contained in a FolderShare folder in My Documents.

What am I missing? Is that just a fluke?

Could you post a screenshot of the Properties window in which you saw the check box? (Save the screenshot as a .png file to reduce the size)

    Open a document in Word.
    Select File | Properties...
Make sure that the Summary tab is active.
The check box labeled "Save preview picture" near the bottom determines whether a thumbnail picture will be available.

Remark: turning on "Save preview picture" increases the file size, since the preview picture is stored in the .doc file.

Thank you! The key is opening the file in the program in which it was created. I was trying to access this feature by right-clicking on the file and choosing Properties.

So many little tips to remember!!!

    Thanks again!
