    Save Properties (2000 on Win2k & XP)

    I want to amend my users DocumentClose so that the File >> Properties box is displayed on File close (but perhaps not on Save or Save As). Is this possible, and if so - how?

    Wouldn't it be more appropriate to do this before the document is saved? If the user closes an unmodified document, it seems pointless to pop up the Properties dialog. Or am I missing something?

    Sorry Hans, I didn't realise I'd have to justify my requirement, ;-D , I will explain fully!
    We will soon be moving to use a Document Management System.
    Most of the documents placed in the DMS will be Word documents.
    Most of the Word documents will be "legacy" or pre-existing documents, whose "Properties" area will not have been fully filled in.
    For speed of indexing and collation it will be advantageous if those "Properties" areas are now filled in.
    I want users to open their Word document, to identify what the document is, and despite having made no edits, to be automatically "prompted" to fill in the "Properties" from a "Save", or a "Save As" or a "Close".
    Hope this helps,
    Tony.

    You can put the following macro in a module in Normal.dot or a global template (add-in):

    Sub AutoClose()
    Application.CommandBars.FindControl(ID:=750).Execu te
    End Sub

    Many thanks Hans,
    That's exactly what I wanted!
