    Recover Corrupted files (2003)

    Hi all,

One of my colleagues is having problems opening her spreadsheet. The size of the spreadsheet is 159mb. When we try to open the spreadsheet it crashes the PC.
The PC specs are as follows:
    Hardware:
Xeon processor 3.4ghz with 2gb of RAM.
    Software:
    Microsoft Office Professional 2003.

I have installed Office 2007 beta and tried to open the spreadsheet ,it comes with an error saying
This workbook is corrupted This may be a result of a program failure or it may be intentionally corrupted by a malecious source. The Open and Repair feature may be able to recover the contents of this document etc etc.

If I say yes to the above message the following error comes up.
Damage to the file was so extensive that repairs were not possible. Excel attempted to recover your fomulas and values, but some data may have been lost or corrupted.

Is there a way to fix corrupted excel spresdsheets?

    Many thanks

See Corrupt files on Jan Karel Pieterse's website.

There are many commercial services that claim to be able to recover corrupt worksheets. I have no idea how good they are. Do a Google search if you're interested.
