Pivot Table Calc Items (Excel 2002)

I have the same pivot table field twice in the data area of the pivot table as I want to have an AMOUNT column AND a PERCENTAGE of the total column. I use the "options" and show data as a "% of total".
I then want to create a calculated item, however I get a message stating that it's not allowed since I use the same pivot table field more than once. Is this limitation still a limitation in the newer versions of Excel?
    Thanks,
    Lana

    It's the same in Excel 2003. I haven't seen Excel 2007 yet.

    Hi Hans

If you are interested you can actually check it out online without downloading any software.

Thanks, Braddy. It fails to load on my PC - I get stuck in an endless loop while it tries to install the Citrix browser plug-in (yes, I have given permission for that).

    Hi Hans

I am sorry to hear that because it's very impressive. You can download it as I did but it's over 400Mb.

The download allows you to keep all other office versions, which makes it easy to remove, I have done both.

    Regards

    Braddy

Re: Pivot Table Calc Items (Excel 2002)

First you need to create a calc field: click your mouse pointer inside your pivot table; then click the PivotTable toolbar; then select Formulas, Calculated Field. In the Name Input Box : type name of calculation; In the Formula Inputbox: insert the calc with column names. Click the Add button then OK. The new calc field will appear in your Pivot tables field list. Drag the column to your pivot table.
