    Entering Hyperlinks (MSO 2003)

I know that the format for a link is My Site.

But when using the "internal" Outlook editor when composing a message, if I use the menu item "Insert / Hyperlink" there isn't any (easy) way to put descriptive text into the link. At least not without re-editing the message source, at least not that I know of anyway.

Or is there some way that I am unaware of here?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

    1) Type the descriptive text first.
    2) Select the descriptive text.
    3) Select Insert | Hyperlink...
    4) Specify the URL.
    5) Click OK.

My Insert menu (Outlook 2003) doesn't have a Hyperlink item. Do I need to do something to add it.
BTW, if I type a URL into a message the hyperlink underlining automatically appears and the link works, so why would I need to do an Insert|Hyperlink anyway?

The Insert | Hyperlink menu item is only available in a HTML format e-mail message, and if the insertion point is in the body part of the message.

The dialog offers several prefixes for a hyperlink, such as file:, ftp: and mailto: besides the default http:. Being able to use a descriptive text is another feature.

Thanks, Hans. I typically don't use HTML format. The descriptive text is a nice feature, maybe I'll consider using it in the future.
