WAB Files Merging (Office XP & 2k)

Hi,

I have 2 PCs, one Off2k, the other OffXP.
Need to merge 2 WABs into one - how do I do it?
When I tried copying one onto floppy & copying to 2nd machine, the WAB appears as blank even though it's filesize is the same as before copying it!

Pls. help!
Thanks,

m.q.

Please excuse my ignorance but I don't have a clue what a "WAB" is.

One possible source of problems is the floppy disk. It is vital that you not use Word to deal with that disk at all. Do all of you work in Word on your computer's hard drive, then use Explorer to make the copies back and fourth. This means do not save a file to a floppy using Word. Do not open a file from a floppy using Word. Do not reference a file on a floppy using Word. Word should not know that you have a floppy drive! If it sounds like I'm trying to pass on a "rule," that's because I am. I'm a lawyer by trade and thought I could find the exception to any rule, but this one has me stumped.

You are reading the thoughts of hard experience. This is one of the easiest ways to trash a document.

As for merging the documents, are we talking about adding one to another, comparing them, cut & paste between?

Hope this helps.

Hi,

A WAB File is a WindowsAddressBook file.
It's used by Outlook to hold Contacts.
I am trying to merge 2 from different PCs and having problems.

Thanks,

m.q.

Musab,

I was going to suggest that you try a post in the Outlook forum instead of here- but I notice that you already have.

The response there indicated an Outlook Express problem- so try on the Outlook Expressforum, but indicate that you have previously posted on the Outlook forum, and preferable with a link back to that message.

I'll speak for myself that I have very little experience on OE, so you might find more help over there.

Sorry I can't help more.
