    Set Options from VB (A2k Sr1)

    Is there an error in the A2k help files? Ref "Set Options from Visual Basic"

    Any help in finding the actual string argument for the Option "Show Windows in Taskbar" would be appreciated.

    '************** Code Start **********************************

    Function GetCurrentProjectOptions()

    Dim obj As AccessObject, dbs As Access.Application, Strdbs As String

    Strdbs = "C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeSamplesNorthwind.mdb"

    On Error GoTo GetOptions_Err

    Set dbs = New Access.Application
    dbs.OpenCurrentDatabase Strdbs

    '-------------- The Problem is here -----------------------------
    Debug.Print dbs.GetOption("Use Taskbar for Each Document") ' Show Windows in Taskbar
    '------------------------------------------------------------------------
    dbs.CloseCurrentDatabase

    Exit_GetOptions_Err:

    Set dbs = Nothing
    Exit Function

    GetOptions_Err:
    MsgBox Err.Description
    Resume Exit_GetOptions_Err

    End Function
    '**************** Code End ******************************

    Re: Set Options from VB (A2k Sr1)

    Are you actually trying to do this from VB or from within Access VBA? The code suggests VB, but I can't imagine why you would be controlling an Access front end from Visual Basic.

    And, by the way, where exactly are you finding this option in Access? It certainly isn't exposed in the Tools-->Options menu in my copy. Ah, never mind. It's only there if you have IE with ActiveDesktop installed. I don't ever install ActiveDesktop, so that's why it doesn't appear in my menus.

    Actually I'm Trying to do it within VBA. I have been successful in setting and or reading most of the properties and options of a remote Db from Access but this option setting has eluded me.. There may be a correlation to the active desktop. I hope you can help.

    I can't find the help article I stumbled over that mentioned the active desktop, but the readme file that comes with Access 2000 SR-1 has a section that lists updates to help, and it shows that you should replace the option text with "Windows In Taskbar" and the string argument with "ShowWindowsInTaskbar" . You can find all this in MS Knowledgebase article Q210178 as well.
