Odd Display Problem

I have a few games on my win98pc that I play on a daily basis that need to run in a 640x480 display. When ever I played these games and finished playing them I would quit the game and my PC's display settings would go back to their normal settings of 1280x1024. Lately when I quit playing the game my PC would stay at the 640x480 display setting. I have to go to Control Panel> Display> Settings and readjust the settings to 1280x1024. My PC never did this before. Can someone tell me what could be causing this?

Have you tried updating the drivers for your PC?

I only up-dated the video card drivers. Are there any other drivers that could be up-dated?

possibly not. This is a difficult one, a favourite game which may get lost if we fiddle around. Do you have the original game on disk? If you have I would back up all the saved game files and try a reinstall it maybe just the game has crumbled or it maybe just that the video card is getting old and dusty. So I am between a rock and a hard place to advise you what to do.....

    Re: Odd Display Problem

I used to have the same problem with an old Win 98 machine. The only answer I found was to manually change the display setting back to the correct resolution.
