    I'm lost. my antispyware and antivirus software BOTH tell me I have the Trojan (puper.dll), but neither of them can delete, clean or even quarantine it. Any suggestions? I have XP

    What anti-virus software are you running?

    Sophos - for example - claim to give 'recovery' instructions.

    Leif.....I have McAfee which i disabled when I loaded AVG. I am not running them at the same time, but I have used BOTH to try to get the puper.dll, and neither of them can do it

    Hmmm. According to this McAfee page, the latest version should be able to remove it.

    Have you tried using the free Housecall online scanner? - see the link at the top of each forum index:

    If you are comfortable editing the registry, ( regedit )

    Navigate to the subkey:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentV ersion
    PoliciesExplorerRun

    In the right pane, delete the value:

    "notepad2.exe" = "popuper.exe"

    Exit the Registry Editor.

    Then run your malware removal tools.
