    Count but ignore Duplicates (Excel 2002)

    Hello,
    I'm attempting to count the data contain in the column but I want to ignore duplicates if they exist. Help.. Please :-)

    The following array formula will count unique entries:

    =SUM(1/COUNTIF(A1:A680,A1:A680))

    You must confirm this formula with Ctrl+Shift+Enter instead of just Enter.

    Hans, could you please parse and explain how that formula works? I tried to understand it using Excel help but it was no help.... (why do they call it Help?)
