Default Header and footer

Hi all

I use Excel from Office 2000 on Windows 2000

This is my first post, and I hope somebody here can help me. I am a frequent, although basic, user of Excel. I normally work with a spreadsheet that contains several work sheets. when I print these, as I often need to do, I am always forgetting to put the file date on the header. It's an easy thing to do, and I don't have a problem with it, until I have to do it again and again and again etc.

I have just finished running through a spreadsheet that has 13 work sheets in it, and I have had to repeat the header and footer set-up for each one. I have tried selecting all of the work sheets prior to inserting header and footer detail, but it still only updates the work sheet I have active when I enter the fields.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Re: Default Header and footer

Hi,
When you insert the file header and footer info are you in print preview mode? I find that if you select all sheets, choose File-Page Setup and alter the header and footer there, it affects all the worksheets.
Incidentally, when you say file date I presume you mean the file modified date rather than the date you're printing the file? (if it's the current date you can set that in the default workbook template) If you want the last saved date, you could automate this with some code using BuiltInDocumentProperties.
Hope that helps.

Oh boy!

What a plonker!

I have just found the answer (as well as the one from Rory)

I searched the archives and came up with the Template Solution, (see archive 28 June Vol 5 No 29)

I've tried it and it works.

(So much for that damn fool microsoft paperclip!)

Sorry to post a foolish one first time around!

Phil,

Well done and thanks. It's very often useful for people coming in and searching archives to find out what soultion other people have found.

I'd normally do my moderator bit and put some tags- but there's a problem with that one now- that would also insert my sig.

But that's fine- I'm sure you've given a lot of help to quite a number of people over the next xx months by including that URL. Thanks for the work!
