    Ad-Watch

The Automatic button which when activated blocks suspicious activity automatically is the reason for this post. I'm not sure if it will block the wrong things. I have the tutorial but it doesn't explain what Ad-Aware SE professional considers suspicious.

I will appreciate some user of Ad-Watch to help me find that information and if I should aciviate it or not.

As Ad-Watch uses the same definition file as Ad-Aware, what "wrong things" are you afraid it will block? There's an explanation of what it does and how it operates on the Lavasoft site .

Perhaps you saw something I missed. Like I said, I have printed the tutorial and read it carefully. I read what it does but can not find anywhere what it blocks exactly.I need to know if it blocks things I want to use or see.

If you know where to find it, please tell me where.Perhaps I should try the Ad-Aware forum.

    Re: Ad-Watch

Yeah, I think checking the forum or writing to them directly would be a good idea. Here's why I say that - Just for the heck of it, I checked the "details" button on my copy of AdAware SE to see what it says. There are almost 62,000 "signatures" contained in the current definitions file! If that's the same thing as "bad guys," I don't think you want to wade through a list like that. You obviously have something in mind and you probably need to 'fess up to them (or us) what it is to see if it's on their definitions list. This is almost akin to asking how many viruses an AV program checks for... <img src=/S/anigrin.gif border=0 alt=anigrin width=19 height=19>

I also checked "details" and it contained 3154 signatures. I don't think these are the "bad guys", too many of 'em.

I had nothing specific in mind when I asked the question. I just wanted to know if it would block things like email messages or programs it thought were of a suspicious nature.

    Re: Ad-Watch

Gloria, I don't use the AdWatch feature but as I read it on their web pages, it does the same thing that an AdAware scan does, using the same "definitions" file, except it does it in real-time. It seems to me that, like an AdAware scan, it will pop open a decision making window for YOU to make a choice, but I could be terribly wrong. You could always give it a short trial to see what you experience and then turn it off if you don't like what you see.

    Re: Ad-Watch

You're right, that would the simplest thing to do. Why didn't I think of that? Answer: Because my brain's in limbo.
