1. Triangle People

Jezza Bear was walking around the Magic Forest this weekend and discovered something really fantastic. As he walked past the recent Time Machine he found a few weeks ago; on the floor he saw a shimmering light pool and on looking at it closer he found an amazing thing, Jezza Bear had discovered Triangle People!

Excited by his find he placed the shimmering light pool into the basket of his tricycle and pedalled off as fast as he could to the Magic Forest University to speak to Al Bear Einstein, the expert on dimensional creatures. Jezza Bear shouted up to Al Bear Einsteins lab window

"Al Bear, Al Bear, I have discovered numerous 2 dimensional creatures in the forest"

Al Bear leaned out of the window and invited JB into the lab and placed the shimmering light pool on to his specially designed Dimensional Array Microscope (DAM) and through the viewer saw the image you see below. Jezza Bear was jumping from foot to foot shouting " Thousands upon thousands of 2 dimensional creatures, I'll be world famous"

Al Bear picked up his pipe, lit it and sat down in his chair, legs crossed, "Hmmn, I am not too sure about this JB, I need to talk to the guys at Woody's and see their theories, I want to know the following:

1) How many creatures can you see in a given period of say 1 minute?

2) How many dimensions could theoretically be in play here?

3) and how do they eat?

I am taking a wild guess and saying for #1 1200 in 60 seconds?

3. Re: Triangle People

If we are playing games with dimensions then the right hand side of your white rectangle could be connected to the left hand side through another dimension, so there may be only a single creature.

He could be but how does he slip to the other dimension Not saying you are wrong or right here

3] Obviously they start the day off with a light breakfast, followed by a light lunch, then a light supper.

6. Re: Triangle People

Unfortunately they are light sleepers as well

7. Re: Triangle People

Ok everybody I have spoken to Al Bear Einstien about this and he reckons this is the answer:

1) Al Bear reckons that we are looking at one creature walking around in a circle, possibly a tube. We are therefore seeing him walk around and around the outside on the cylinder. It is difficult to know as Al Bear has not shown me the specifications for his DAM but this could be what is happening. So with this assumption there is 1 creature. So Stuart was getting there so a [choccy bar] for him

2) As we know you only need two parameters to find the position on a cylinder, a length on the tube and an angle of the circle. I argue this point as youneed to know the centre of the circle so a third coordinate is required. Although Triangle person lives on the surface of the tube I reckon he is a 3D creature as he is curved.

3) If he were truelly a 2 D creature, if his alimentary canal was all the way through he would fall in half. The only way for hinm to eat is swallow, digest and then vomit

Discuss!

8. Re: Triangle People

I think Al Bear Einstein could do with a new image-capture thingummy for his DAM - the latest versions have a new red-eye reduction setting

PS - Are you sure he doesn't photosynthesise his nourishment? This would save him having to go out looking for foodd (otherwise known as 2-D food).

9. Re: Triangle People

Photosynthesis, now that could be an issue as if it were a 2D world then there would have to be a 2D sun. Potentially the world that the creatures live on and the "sun" in the 2D universe could have no mass so the creatures would not be able to stay fixed to the world. This is why the universe that we are aware of has 3 macro dimensions and 1 macro time dimension to allow for mass and gravity, the other 7 are at sub microscopic level to 10^-33 m.....but I think we should stop there before we get into a Rudi "Is Light a wave or particle" discussion
