Only 300? It found over 1200 expired cookies, living in 737 discreet files on my work PC. The program deleted 425 of the files, and optimized the remainder. It will be interesting to see the results I get at home. I suspect my home computer may have even more cookies on it, as my son and daughter-in-law have been using it while they wait to get broadband cable hooked up at their apartment.

Bob,

I take it that you block all cookies (except for the 9 that sneaked through)? I've considered that, but a number of sites I regularly visit require cookies, and it's a pain to have to reenter the information to gain the access I want.

Dennis,
No, I allow all cookies but rely on a small program called "Cookie Wall" by AnalogX, to filter the cookies.
It will allow you to keep certain cookies ( like the Lounge ) and block others that you don't want to accept. If a new cookie tries to set itself, the prog will ask if you want to keep it or not.
The nine you see in the screenshot are one that I want to keep.

I have used Cookie Wall for some time now and it works well. AnalogX also has a good assortment of other utilities well worth checking out.

Cookie Wall is about three quarters of the way down the page HERE

Great! Cookie Wall is downloaded and running. Now I need to weed out the other 2500 cookies that Karen's Cookie Viewer shows. Oh, well, I'm retired and have plenty of time.

Re: Expired Cookies Cleaner

Hmmmm, I have been using Spybot Search & Destroy, setup to remove "trackers" for years to rid my HDD of unwanted cookies. I love the "Ignore Cookies" utility which allows me to exclude those wanted/needed cookies from being removed. I am very reluctant to try "Expired Cookies" since I have about 25+ cookies I want to keep and wouldn't want them to be deleted. I hate having to login to a forum, e.g., Woody's Lounge every time I visit.

Okay, okay.... couldn't resist. I downloaded and ran the utility and here's the results:

54 files found with 152 cookies.
8 files with 12 expired cookies found.
2 files removed, 6 files optimized.
Working time: 1.188 sec.

Re: Expired Cookies Cleaner

I think "expired" is the key to the program. If you regularly visit sites that require a login, then I would think that expiration wouldn't be an issue. On the other hand, every 4-5 times I log in to the Lounge, I'm asked for username and password. That was addressed in a previous post, which I can't find right now.

I know I'm contradicting myself, but the Internet is full of contradictions.

Re: Expired Cookies Cleaner

Yep, I can understand that. I did recognize one cookie which Expired Cookies removed which belongs to a website I visit several times daily and on which I never have to login to. So, I immediately accessed the site and sure enough I had to login. Call it an anomaly if you wish, but that was the very thing I wanted to avoid. Fortunately, very few cookies were removed and thus no real harm and no foul. But I will keep this little utility in my handy "bag of tricks" when I want to clean out a client's PC.
