    Temp Folder (XP)

In the Windows temp folder I have numerous enteries. Some are folders (which are empty) labelled {5100 ED6D...} etc; tmp files labelled Jet####.tmp; dat files labelled Perflib_Perdata.6BD (assume from the icon they are created by Creative Media software); some others named atixcap, atixtun, atixwxp, etc.

Two questions. 1) Is it safe to remove them? 2) Is there away to have this temp folder automatically empty as Windows shuts down?

    Thanks.

The Temp folder is just that, " a temporary folder".

A good rule of thumb to use is that it is safe to delete anything older than a day or two old.
The perflib_perdata files will probably be recreated on start up.

Long ago, there was a time when men cursed and beat on the ground with sticks. It was called witchcraft.
    Today it is called golf!

There is a builtin XP tool that you can use. See Search The Knowledge Base - cleanmgr. For a third party tool see CCleaner.com.
