    Windows Update NAG (XPH SP2)

I have chosen to "hide" several Windows Update hotfixes. I have no use for them and don't want them bloating my system with updates that I don't even use.
    For example:
MS Smart Card Crypto service provider
    Win Media connect
    Win Messenger 4.7
    Win Malicious software removal tool

OK, I can click to "hide' them but every time I check for any updates, it comes up with the NAG saying " I've chosen to hide critical updates, please unhide them and install them" or something similar to those words.

Does anyone know of a way to REALLY hide them or delete them?

I seem to remember that older versions of WU had this capability, so that when you chose not to install an update, it didn't bother you again with this nag. Billie knows best!

Re: Windows Update NAG (XPH SP2)

In answer my own question and also solve another problem with Windows Update.

In addition to the NAG screens mentioned above, I also noticed a dramatic slow down in the time to check for updates. The progress bar seemed to go on forever ( almost 5 minutes ) before it would show available updates, including those nags for updates I didn't want or need.

I reverted back to using only WINDOWS UPDATES, not MICROSOFT UPDATES that included Office and other things. The time to check for Windows updates now is back to about 20 seconds and NO nags.
