    System standby (WinXp SP2)

I have been experimenting with system standby on my machine. When I enable this modeand then return to the machine at some later point, I see a prompt from Outlook asking for my password. I just hit enter and all is OK.

But I also get the following event log entries each time I come out of standby:

I know Windows has problems with hibernation from the first time they offered this functionality. But it seems that it also has problems with managing Standby. Seems to me that Windows should not be dispatching any applications (like Outlook) while it is in Standby mode. And apparently restarting causes apging problems.

The system log events have nothing to do with Outlook. Symmpi is a device driver. See symmpi - Google Search for more information. The prompt for you userid is probably an Outlook trying to reestablish a connection.

Yes, I know that. The point I was trying to make was that these messages ONLY come up when STANDBY is enabled.

It would appear that you have two separate issues. The one is a device driver issue. Have you checked to see if you have the most current version? The second seems to be a connectivity issue. how do you connect to the Internet?
