    Thumbs.db conflict (Front Page 2003)

When I publish my site I get a warning message that files on my computer conflict with files on my server. (I modified my index page and added an image to my image folder to upload.) I elected to overwrite the files on my server. The site appears to be working properly but I notice that there is a question mark next to thumbs.db in my image folder with a conflict status. What is happening here and how do I correct this.

I think thumbs.db is created by Windows Explorer if you view a folder of pictures as thumbnails and have it set to save them. If that is in fact what those files are, I suggest deleting those from your local web and not publishing them to the server at all.

In addition to Jeff's answer if you want to turn off this feature:

    1) Open up the Control Panel
    2) Select Folder Options
    3) Click the View tab
    4) Check "Do not cache thumbnails"
    5) Click the OK button

What will be missing if I do not cache thumbnails? What does caching thumbnails do?

    > What does caching thumbnails do?

Saves time. Without caching, Windows regenerates them each time you view the folder in Thumbnails view.
