    File name extension (Access 2000)

    How can i change the requirement in the windoes to ask for a file name extension? In all of our computers this requirement is not set and the programme is made acording to this condition.Only in one of my computers this requirement is set and i have to add on mdb for an access file, doc for a word filce etc.. I know this is not the best way, but my programme is comfused with the extensions

    You should recommend everyone else to show extensions. Hiding extensions for known file types is dangerous - several of the e-mail viruses that have caused a lot of damage relied on the fact that many users hide the extensions.

    The setting itself has nothing to do with Access. It is a Windows setting:
    - Open Windows Explorer or My Computer.
    - Select Tools | Folder Options...
    - Activate the View tab.
    - To hide file extensions, tick the check box "Hide extensions for known file types"
    - Click OK.
