Hidden excel file open (excel 2000)

    Hello,

I am having an issue with excel being open in the background. I have closed excel but its still makes the file read only if I try and open it. I remeber a post concerning hidden instances but cant seem to find it. Any one know where it is?

no this is an excel file relate issue or Network???

I user has created an excel workbook, and exited out of it. I am trying to open it now and it says the user is still in it. So I restarted the users computer and trried the file and still the message comes up saying
    the excel file is open????

If you rebooted the user's computer, it can't be a hidden instance of Excel. It might be a network issue instead. Contact your network administrator.

If the file is on a server, then it is the server that thinks the user still has it open. Your network administrator should be able to resolve that.
