Non-destructive XP reinstallation ? (SP 2)

(Edited by DaveA on 27-Jul-06 08:57. Added URL code)
To all,
Lately my PC (XP SP 2 w 512 meg) has been running slower. I have Norton Anti-Virus, Webroot SpySweeper, Ad Aware all up to date with no problems reported. The standard thinking seems to be to reinstall Windows so as to start fresh. Of course, that is a big pain - backing up, locating original CD's or downloaded files, etc.
Langalist is another newsletter I subscribe to and he has a non-destructive reinstallation routine mentioned in a recent issue. See link here:
Has anyone tried this? Does this sound reasonable?
If it seems bogus, I may bite the bullet and do the reinstallation. But I would love to avoid such a task if possible.

It sounds just like the "standard" Repair Reinstall of XP, with a lot more detailed screens shown.
Go for it.BOB

Today it is called golf!
