PivotChart - help! (Excel 2002)

Hi, I'm tyring to modify my pivot chart. It automatically adds an ALL field, for summarizing purposes I guess, to my regular list of fields. And although I can hide my other fields using the Fields Settings option, I can't hide the one the Wizard automatically adds. (I've tried to attach an example chart, but I can't get it as small as 100kg so this site will accept it.) I've looked in OPTIONS as well, with no success. The other option would be too somehow get the ALL field to provide an average. BUT the other fields need to sum. I imagine my only alternative is to code, which I am still learning. Thank you! Ellen

    Welcome to Woody's Lounge!

I'm afraid I don't understand why you want to get rid of All. Could you explain that, and perhaps attach a stripped down copy of your workbook after all? You can remove data not necessary to illustrate your problem, and create a zip file if the workbook is still too large.

    Welcome to the Lounge Ellen

Is there anyway you can zip it to make it smaller .

If not, click on my name above the Jezza Bear on the left of this message and you will see my public email account. If you want you can email it there and I can look at it for you or reduce it and republish it for you. Feel no pressure, the option is there

Hi, Hans, thanks! Okay, I just attached a pared down version of the chart. Go to the Chart1 tab and scroll thru DEPARTMENTs to (All). As you will see, when you select ALL, it just adds all the totals together and the bars go off the chart. If I could get it to provide an average (and still keep the other dept settings at Sum), that would be fine. Even better would be to get rid of or disable it. It will just confuse the recipients. Thanks, Han!

Hi, Jezza, thanks so much. I just sent the pared down attachment to another responder. You should see it. Thank you, thank you!

I think you'll have to live with it. The "All categories" item cannot be manipulated as far as I know.

(The reason the bars go off the plot area is that the maximum scale of the value axis has been set to 100. If you set it to Automatic, the scale will adjust itself automatically.)

Thanks, Han. Yeah, I thought about that (adjusting the scale properties), but we need the total amount to be 100.

Thanks for giving it a shot...I really appreciate it.

    Take care! Ellen
