    Firefox Extension (IE 6.0 SP1)

I received a newsletter from Techspot & Neowin. It contained an article of a malicious Firefox extension called FormSpy that gets installed through a piece of software named Downloader-AAXM.
The article reports that the extension is out to steal private information and looks for passwords, private information like credit card numbers, as well as monitoring things like FTP & email traffic for private data.

It supplies a link to McAfee's web site to view further information on this malicious extension. This is the URL for this page.

That URL doesn't seem to lead to a useful page. Try http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp...&virus_k=140256.

I see my mistake, too many 1's. it should have been 140256, I wrote 1140256. My silly mistake, am I forgiven? I was so anxious to post the information.
    Thanks Hans for the correction.

That's OK. The easiest way to ensure that an URL is correct is to select it in the address bar of the browser, and to copy and paste it.

Gloria, are you aware of Alan Miller's StarPost here: <post:=438,749>post 438,749</post:>? It makes it so EASY to capture a URL to include in a post that it's a shame if you don't incorporate it into your browsing. It eliminates any possibility of typos when posting a link in The Lounge. I wouldn't be without it.

I know that as well as I know my name, but I never thought of doing it here. I use it almost every day, copying and pasting from web sites to my outbound email.

It may be of interest to you and all those friends of mine that read and post in this lounge, that I sent for the CD for Windows XP SP2. I'm just a wee bit closer to making you guys happy (smile). Don't applaude yet, it may be premature.

There is a discussion on this at the MozillaZine forums - FormSpy - Spyware program hooks into Mozilla Firefox

Thanks Doc, I visited the link and all the other links provided as I opened each page. That method is far to complicated for poor me. Copying and pasting is my speed, the simpler the better.
