Sending data from one database to another (Access 2K SR1)

Is there any way to have one Access 2K database send information to tables in another A2K database using VBA? Both are split back end/front end, with all back ends sitting on the same server.

I would like to be able to do this without necessarily linking the tables, as there may be multiple databases involved. Any ideas for the most efficient way to accomplish this? Curious, how much memory do linked tables add to a front end delivered as an MDE? Still in the early stages, so feedback is welcome.

This is not for reports and such; for that I can do the linking easily.

It's pretty easy to do this in Access 2000 using ADO, and that doesn't require linking the tables at all. You create an ADO connection to the other back end and then either execute a stored procedure/append query, or you open an ADO recordset and write the data into the recordset.

You'll have to be more specific about exactly what you want to do before you can get specific help.

It is still in the early stages, but what you are saying confirms what my initial thinking was. I just better hope I don't need to do any searching with the Find method <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>.

Is that the "Connect" property (or method) I will need to look into? I know you know the Getz, etal, book pretty well, is there someplace in either volume of the Handbook I should look for more information? I just received them and it takes time to figure where everything is, and I am new to ADO.

Right now I am trying to formulate how I want to do it. Your advice is much appreciated.

Just about every place. Creating an ADO connection is the basic thing you do all the time. *How* you create it and whether implicitly or explicitly depends on the situation. Try the book Rupert recommended. There are others that I like on ADO, but most of them use VB and SQL Server rather than Access itself.

Rupert's suggestion gave me what I need to know to start working on it. Additionally, I found some white papers at MS' site that gave other details, and loads of Connect examples in the Handbook.
