Adding a second video card to a Compaq

I have a Compaq Presario 5451 that I wanted to add a second video card to. However, when I did this the system would keep locking up. I've even tried to completely disable the built-in video card and then installing the new card. NO luck, this machine won't let me completely disable the onboard video.

Any suggestions? This machine has an AMD K-7 3D Now 500Mhz processor and 256 megs of RAM, Win98 SE, and Award BIOS.

Thanks in advance for your help/suggestions.

You will find that a LOT of the OEM's are NOT allowing a third party type of hard ware to work in their systems. You are going to see more of this from the big boys. Not only that you will not be able to upgrade from a OEM OS or software to a "Retail" copy. And people think that MS is getting to be pushy, wait until this starts with ALL of the big guns.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

I've steered clear of the Presario range purely because of the limited upgrade options.

However I will do some digging, no promises though.
